Anthrodesk standing desk Review

In this Anthrodesk review I will go into detail about the main features of the Anthrodesk programmable Standing Desk. I’ll touch on the desk size and width and height adjustments. The desk’s build quality, ease of assembly, stability, electronic components, and customization options, so let’s get started with this Anthrodesk review:

Build Quality

The Anthrodesk’s desk frame is constructed from heavy powder coated tubular steel. This makes the desk pretty heavy. But is ideal for the desks overall stability.

The frame structure is designed with two telescopic (Adjustable) Anthrodesk legs that are constructed from three sections. Each leg is supported by 26.8″ (68cm) feet. The desktop is supported by and attached to the frame legs with 23.62″ (60cm) sidebars. These sidebars screw to the underside of the desktop of your choice. The Anthrodesk legs are connected to one other with a telescopic lateral (adjustable) steel frame which also houses the desks motors and electronic components.

The Anthrodesk Standing Desk has the option of single or dual motors. The dual motor option offers smoother operation, greater weight capacity and reduces the working load compared to a single motor. The programmable controller is constructed from a plastic with touch button controllers. This is attached to the underside of the desktop and plugged into the motors mounted on the desk frame.

Assembly

The assembly process of Anthrodesk’s Standing Desk is really straightforward. This can be done almost anyone with basic furniture assembly skills. It’s probably a good idea to have a second person help to lift components and getting the desk upright. The frame is pretty heavy.

The basic assembly is simple:

Four Allen key screws attach each of the feet extensions to the Anthrodesk legs.

Two Allen key screw type components attach the Anthrodesk legs, lateral frame and sidebars together. An Allen key is used to tighten an internal fitting through the side of the lateral frame.

The Assembly Instructions can be download from Anthrodesk’s official website

The Anthrodesk frame can be adjusted laterally between 41.3″ – 63″ (105cm – 160cm) to fit various sizes of desktops. This needs to be adjusted and fixed in place before fixing desktop. To do this the Allen key screws on the underside of the lateral frame need to be loosened. Then the frame can be telescoped laterally to the desired width.

The desktop is purchased separately. This is screw fitted with 12 x 23mm screws through the underside of the frame to the underside of the desktop.

Installing the electronics for the most part come preinstalled in the lateral frame. Only the programmable controller needs to be screwed to the underside of the desktop and plugged into the motor/s.

Stability

Anthrodesk sit stand desk is remarkably stable for a programmable height adjustable standing desk. The desks frame is built from heavy tubular steel. Whilst this makes moving the desk around awkward. The weight helps desk stability. The frame is also designed with generous 26.8″ (68cm) feet extensions.

If you’ve followed the instructions to the letter, your Anthrodesk will be remarkably stable, regardless of whether it’s set in a sitting or standing position.

If for any reason you do experience wobble check the upper frame bolts and tighten if lose. These frame bolts have the biggest impact on the desk’s stability.  Also make sure that the floor below the desk is in level and firm. Uneven flooring or floor coverings will almost certainly cause any desk to wobble.

Electronics and Control system

The Anthrodesk Standing Desk is available in single and dual motor options.

The single-motor model offers good performance and supports up to 220lbs (100kg).

The dual motor option offers smoother operation, less motor wear and tear and a higher load capacity of 300lbs (136kg).

Both motor options operate incredibly quietly. There’s only a very small amount of motor noise when operating up or down.

The desk motors are housed within each leg component and the supporting power pack and main control unit sits in the lateral steel frame between the Anthrodesk legs of the desk. This power pack and control unit is plugged into each motor and the wall.

The programmable controller that is attached to the front underside of the desk simply plugs directly into the power pack and main control unit via a single cable.

How to use Anthrodesk Programmable controller

The Anthrodesk standing desk has two programmable presets. These can be used to store a users preferred heights. To preset a height simply tap and hold one of the preset buttons for 10 seconds. To use a preset height just tap the preset button. The desk can also be manually adjusted using the up and down arrows on the controller.

Frame Adjustments

The Anthrodesk sit stand frame has two main frame adjustment features. The frame width and height can be adjusted to customize the desk dimensions.

The width of the frame can be adjusted manually whilst assembling the desk. No further adjustments can be made once the desk is assembled. The width of the frame is adjusted by loosening two Allen key nuts on the underside of the lateral frame connected both Anthrodesk legs. This frame slides inside itself to extend or reduce the width of the desk frame between 41.3″ – 63″ (105cm – 160cm).

The height of the desk frame is controlled by the electric motor and programmable controller system. The desk height can be adjusted between 24.5″ – 50″ (62cm – 127cm).

The Anthrodesk legs a designed as a 3-tier system. This offers faster lifting operation – 33% faster than equivalent 2-tier designs.

Desk top Options

The Anthrodesk frame width adjustment allows loads of desk top customization.

The Anthrodesk sit stand frame doesn’t come standard with a desk top. This needs to be purchased separately.

The table top you choose is really only limited by the 41.3″ – 63″ (105cm – 160cm) frame width adjustments, the size of the space to put the desk and to some extend the load capacity of the frame.

Ikea offer a decent range of desk top option that are sold seperately. Some good options include the VÄSTANBY or IDÅSEN.

The Lorell Active Office Relevance Table Top is also a really nice option. It measures 48 inches (122 cm) x 24 inches (61 cm) x 1 inch (2.5 cm). This is a standard sized desktop and comes in a Walnut laminate finish.

Accessories and Upgrade Options

There are several upgrades that you may like to consider for your Anthrodesk. These upgrades allow you to considerably improve the desk’s comfort, ergonomics, cable management, and peripheral integration.

These extra upgrade features include the Ergo Slant Anti Fatigue Standing Desk Comfort Mat, the Dual Clip Wire Organizer, and the Adjustable CPU Holder.

The Adjustable CPU Holder for Under Desk Mount is essentially an under-desk mount upgrade that is designed adjustable to fit most PC tower units. This is an ideal CPU storage solution for a height adjustable workstations. This upgrade eliminates the need for peripheral cable slack for any device connected to your floor mounted CPU or eliminates the need to desk top mount your CPU.

Another great upgrade option is the Cable Management Organizer, which is a 8-pack bundle of dual cable clip buttons fixed with 3M adhesives. This is a great way to tidy and manage the Anthrodesk motor and controller cables plus CPU power and peripheral cables. They’re easy to install, flexible and cheap.

The JOTO Desktop Cable Organizer cable management system is an excellent method for keeping all your cable needs organized and tidy. These are super easy to install, flexible and cheap. These are ideal for a height adjustable workstation where cables are often difficult to conceal.

An upgrade that I think is worth considering is the ComfiLife Anti Fatigue Floor. If you plan to use your height adjustable desk in the standup position for long periods of time. Its worth considering getting an anti fatigue floor mat. If you’re like me and prefer socks or bare feet inside the home then standing on hard surfaces overtime can leave your feet sore and fatigued. A great solution for this is an aniti fatigue floor mat.

Pricing

The Anthrodesk sit stand desk is very competitively priced for such a high quality standing desk. It’s actually considerably cheaper in comparison to another one of my favorite desks the Uplift v2 Height Adjustable Standing Desk.

Warranty

The Anthrodesk sit stand desk is not covered by any forms of warranties or guarantees, which is a little dissapointing considering most other comparable standing desks on the market offer some sort of period warranty.

Anthrodesk does however offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The Anthrodesk sit stand Desk is a well-rounded, beautiful, and outstandingly practical desk that is equally suited for home and office use. In my opinion this is one of the best height adjustable standing desks on the market. This is a high quality height adjustable desk that it is built to last and is a great investment for your workstation.

The Anthrodesk offers an excellent range of height and frame width adjustments. The height adjustment range of 24.5 inches – 50 inches (62cm – 127cm) is comparable to more expensive options on the market. It is designed with a 3-tier leg lift system that has a 33% faster lift rate than similar 2-tier leg desks. The width adjustment is decent at 46 inches – 63 inches (117cm – 160cm). There are other more expensive desks that offer greater width adjustment. But at 160 cm maximum width this is going to suit most peoples needs.

The Anthrodesk programmable height adjustable desk can be programmed with up to 2 preset heights. Height adjustments are controlled via electronic controller mounted to the front underside of the desktop.

The lifting mechanism is driven by the option of a single or dual motors. These motors operate extremely quietly.

The desk frame is constructed from tubular steel components. The heavy steel frame is designed for maximum stability.

The desk assembly is super simple and by following the instructions carefully it can be assembled in 15-30 minutes. Legs and lateral frame simply screw together. Motors are housed within the legs and electronic components are pre-mounted on the frame.

The Anthrodesk offers excellent value for money compared with comparable quality programmable height adjustable standing desks on the market. It offers a really cost effect standing desk solution.

Anthrodesk Standing Desk Review – Final Thoughts

I think the Anthrodesk programmable height adjustable standing desk is a brilliant workstation desk solution. It offers a high quality, built to last workstation desk that offers many of the features available with more expensive options.

What I love about the Anthrodesk is the sturdy frame design. That offers excellent height and width adjustability options and 3-tier Anthrodesk legs design that for fast operation. The programmable feature is brilliant and the relatively silent motor operation is also a nice feature.

What I would like to see with this desk is a better warranty. Whilst the desk does come with a 30 day money back guarantee. Other similar desk offer a multi-year warranty on their products.

Overall, I think that if you are looking for an excellent quality programmable height adjustable standing desk for a great price then the Anthrodesk standing desk is a fantastic option.
