HON Ignition Chair Review
The Hon Ignition chair is a sturdy, dependable, and remarkably customizable office chair. It’s equipped with a durable base with selectable caster wheels (hard & soft), and it’s among the lightest and most flexible models in the category of working chairs.
It supports up to 300 lbs (136 kgs), and the numerous adjustability options make it suitable for practically everyone.
The only thing you may not be so thrilled about is the pair of petite armrests; even though they feel comfortable, they’re a bit to small in my opinion. This feature is optional, though, you can remove the armrests if they ever start bothering you.
HON Ignition Chair review specifications and performance evaluation
The second version of HON’s Ignition Chair model is one of the most flexible and practical chairs on the market. Despite its simplistic design, it’s also remarkably versatile, and it’s pretty safe to say that it’s ideal for pretty much everyone and anyone.
This section is dedicated to specific chair specifications. Let’s talk about all the little features included with the HON Ignition 2.0:
As mentioned earlier, the HON Ignition 2.0 is a beautifully simple chair, that’s packed with a variety of great ergonomic features. These are just some of the most notable things that make this office working chair as functional as it is:
High-quality mesh construction Ilira stretch offers increased flexibility and promotes more natural spine support. The back of this office chair is gentle, tight, and much sturdier than the back of the original Ignition chair.
Furthermore, it’s easy to clean, and you will be able to pick between Black Mesh and Fog Mesh back styles.
The Fog Mesh style is more vulnerable to sweat marks and dirt stains; both versions can be scrub cleaned and are rip resistant.
The Ignition chair base is made of lightweight, durable plastic. It features five plastic roller-caster wheels and a metal lift mechanism.
The chair can support up to 300 pounds (136 kgs) of weight while the entire chair weighs approximately 49 pounds (22 kgs). Compared to similar high-end office chairs, only a handful of models offer a light weight strong chair.
The HON Ignition 2.0 features a pneumatic lift, that supports up to 300-pound (136 kgs) weight restriction. Its operated by a operating lever on the right side of chair below the seat. It requires very little maintenance and is backed by 10-year warranty.
The armrests of HON Ignition 2.0 are adjustable, however they’re relatively small. They’re thinly padded and but still comfortable to use. The chairs arm rest adjustability is limited to up and down, in and out.
The only drawback of Ignition’s armrests is their size. Namely, they’re more of elbow supports than regular armrests, but they’re still a nice useful feature of the chair.
The Ignition seat is made of a high-quality fabric upholstered cushion. Its really comfortable and and generous is width. The seat pad gives the chair a really generous and comfortable look and feel.
The seat covering is resistant to ripping and wears well. The seat offers really nice support and cushioning. It definitely has a warmer cozier feel compared to mesh style seats.
The dimensions of the seat measure 20 inches (50 cm) in width by 19 inches (48 cm) in depth.
One of the most amazing things about HON’s Ignition 2.0 office chair is level of adjustability. Most parts of the chair can be adjusted in one way or another, which offers a completely personalized experience to whoever uses it.
The seat of this chair is the most customizable and adjustable feature. Essentially, you will be able to adjust the seat depth and height.
The depth can be adjusted in the range of 3 inches (7.5 cm). The lever on the left hand side (back side) of the seat allows the chair seat cushion to slide forward and back.
The chairs height can also be adjusted vertically. Lift or lower the lever on the right hand side of chair.
There’s a two tilt adjustments that can be used, including tilt lock and recline tension.
The chair can be set to recline in multiple positions or set to recline freely. The knob on the left hand side of the chair below seat allows the seat back to locked in any position. Turn the knob back to lock and forward to unlock.
The tension of the side tilt mechanism governs the recline tension. It can be found underneath the seat on its right hand side. Turn the knob clockwise to increase tension and counter-clockwise to reduce.
The Hon Ignition 2.0 features an optional lumbar support. It can be adjusted vertically to provide additional support to the lower back.
The lumbar pad can be manually slid up or down to adjust to find a suitable position.
The chair back itself offers ‘passive movement’. This is not a lever adjustment instead lateral flexibility in the chair back. In other words as you lean back in the chair and move left or right the chair back flexes and rotates with your movements. Basically the chair hugs your back.
Armrests of Ignition 2.0 chair has two arm adjustments. You can adjust the arm rest width and height. Or you can completely remove them if you prefer.
To adjust the width there is a small trigger behind each of the arm rests. When the trigger lever is unlocked the arm rest will move freely in and out. Then lock lever back to fix position.
To adjust the heat there is a small button under the front of each arm rest.
Design and Aesthetics
Even though aesthetics has little to do with the chair’s performance and comfort, who can deny that it its nice to have a great looking workstation chair.
Personally I like the look of this chair. I think it has a very understated appearance that would work with most spaces. But probably best suited for a more functional aesthetic. If you are going for a more designer look then something like the Herman Miller Sayl is a great option.
I love the generous mesh back of this chair. You wcan choose between two color style variations, including Fog Mesh and Black Mesh.
The Fog Mesh looks much softer, but consider that it may be harder to keep looking clean compared to the black.
The Black Mesh style, is more elegant, and as mentioned a bit easier to clean, and substantially more forgiving in terms of maintenance and clean-up.
The arm supports are an optional feature, which means that they can be completely removed if you don’t particularly like them.
The base and the rolling wheels are simple; the lift mechanism is fairly inconspicuous mounted neatly under the seat.
HON’s Ignition chair is available in a variety of versions, including Ignition Executive, Ignition Task, Ignition Stool, Ignition Guest, and Ignition Lounge. You can also pick between different height options, as well as several weight ratings options if the standard option is not suitable.
The Ignition 2.0 (much like every HON product) is backed by a very comprehensive warranty. The seat, every seating control, all accessories, and pneumatic cylinders fall under the 12 year warranty period.
The Recliner mechanism, as well as the upholstery fabric are backed by a 10 year warranty period.

Hon Ignition Chair review – Final Thoughts
Overall, I really love the HON’s Ignition 2.0. It’s a sturdy, functional and comfortable. It features nice adjustability features that are consistent with the best workstation chairs on the market today.
The chair is ideal for pretty much anyone, regardless of their size or weight. It has a really generous look and feel and the design prioritizes comfort which is great for people looking for a workstation chair that is super comfortable for a great price.
Whilst I do really like this chair, the only real downside in my opinion is the adjustability and comfort of the armrests compared to other chairs on the market.
Overall though if you are looking for a really comfortable desk chair packed with great ergonomic features for a really reasonable price. then the HON Ignition 2.0 is a great option.
