TradingView subscription | How to open a TradingView account

TradingView is one of my favorite charting software platforms. Its simple to use, intuitive, well laid out and is packed full of all the features traders need to trade most markets. In this post I will provide a step by step guide to opening a Tradingview subscription.

Getting started with a Tradingview membership is easy. TradingView has four subscription plans. Basic, Essential, Plus and Premium. Each plan offers progressively more features. Upgraded plans offer more indicators per chart, more charts per window, alerts, bar replay functionality plus access to the fastest data feed. Simply choose the plan that suits your needs. Log in and your ready to go. All features specific to your plan will then be available to use.

In this following article I’ll go into detail about how to best choose the plan for your needs. I’ll outline what each plan includes. Plus I provide a step by step guide to opening a TradingView subscription.

How to open a TradingView subscription

To get started using Tradingview. Head over to the TradingView membership page.

TradingView offers four subscription or membership options. Each is charged on a monthly or yearly basis. The best value is offered by investing in an annual plan. Annual plans are 16% cheaper than the monthly equivalent. So if you know you will be using TradingView for an extended period. It’s definitely worth going with the annual TradingView subscription.

Simply choose the plan options that suit your needs. In the following section I will provide details about the differences between each TradingView membership option:

Tradingview membership plans

The first thing you need to do is choose the Tradingview membership plan that best suits your needs. In the following sections I will provide a brief overview of what each plan offers.

Basic plan

The basic plan is the free Tradingview membership option. It provides basic access to the charting software features and functionality.

If you’re just browsing charts then the basic option is fine. The basic plan is also good for basic chart analysis.

The Basic plan includes:

  • Access to the Tradingview charting software interface.
  • Use of over 50 drawing tools
  • Access to over 100k indicators. The Basic plans allows a maximum of 3 indicators per chart limit.
  • Access to basic market data coverage
  • Brokerage account integration
  • Paper trading
  • Access to social networking features
  • One saved charting template per tab
  • Limit of one alert (2 month expiration)

Essential Plan

Then to get the most out of the platform. In my opinion going for at least the Essential plan is the best option.

The Essential plan removes many of limitations placed on the basic plan. It offers more usability and customization features that would benefit traders using the platform consistently.

If you want to use the bar replay function then upgrading to the Essential plan offers access to bar replay on ALL timeframes.

The Essential plan includes all the features included in the basic plan plus the following:

  • Direct access to the fastest data flows for all major stock exchanges, global currency pairs, worldwide indexes, 30+ crypto exchanges
  • Ad free

  • REGULAR customer support
  • Screener with auto refresh
  • Access to ALL multiple timeframes
  • Custom time intervals
  • 5 saved chart layouts
  • 2 charts per tab
  • 5 indicators per chart
  • Volume profile indicator
  • 10 alerts on price, indicators, strategies or drawings (2 month expiration)
  • 10K historical chart bars available

Plus Plan

The Plus plan expands on the benefits offered by the Essential plan. The Plus plan is tailored towards intraday and day traders.

The Plus plan includes all the features included in the Essential plan plus the following:

  • PRIORITY customer support
